This concert features a thrilling mix of classical works and traditional folk music and dances. The orchestra begins with Camille Saint-Saens “Danse Macabre", followed by the traditional Mexican song “La Llorona” and a heartfelt rendition of “El Triste.” The second half of the program promises to honor life with “Un Rinconcito en el Cielo” and “Amor Eterno.” End the evening by dancing to the cumbia and salsa with “Colombia Tierra Querida” and “La Vida es un Carnaval.”
Colombian conductor Diego Barbosa-Vásquez is giving a pre-concert talk at the Linc Library at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, October 29th. As an Official Ambassador of Colombia and an advocate for inclusive programming, he has a proven track record of transforming cultural heritage into powerful main-stage experiences that resonate with audiences and uphold the highest professional standards. The presentation explores the repertoire and themes of the concert, built with and for our community. Learn how this event is more than a concert - it is a cultural declaration. Bring your questions, as there will be a Q&A session with Diego.
