Desiree Suarez Ward, originally from Venezuela, came to the United States when she was 7 years old. She started playing the violin when she was 10 years old in the Boulder Public Schools.
Desiree received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Northern Colorado and went on to graduate school at the University of Minnesota, where she studied with Jorja Fleezanis, then Concertmaster of the Minnesota Orchestra. She then won a position as a fellow of the New World Symphony, the leading orchestral academy in the United States.
Desiree has been a soloist with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, Boulder Youth Symphony, National Repertory Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of the Springs, Steamboat Springs Orchestra, Colorado Bach Ensemble, and the Mercury Ensemble.
Her orchestral experience has taken her to different parts of the world, including South Korea, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Switzerland, Germany, and Italy. She has had the privilege of working with world renowned conductors such as Michael Tilson Thomas, Eiji Oue, Jean-Pascal Tortelier, Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, Robert Spanno, Josep Caballe Domenech, and Zdenek Macal.
In 2004, Desiree returned to Colorado, where she has enjoyed playing along the front range with groups like the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra, Greeley Philharmonic, Boulder Philharmonic, Fort Collins Symphony, Cheyenne Symphony, Colorado Opera, Colorado Bach Ensemble, Steamboat Springs Orchestra, and the Boulder Bach Festival.
She currently resides in Lakewood with her husband, where she is enjoys being close to her family, going to church, and gardening.
