GPO Executive Director Named Ambassador of the Year

Greeley, CO – The Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra’s Executive Director, Nick Kenny, has been awarded the Greeley Area Chamber Ambassador of the Year. Ambassadors vote to choose a fellow ambassador that goes above and beyond during an entire year as the Ambassador of the Year. Ambassadors participate in Business Before and After Hours, ribbon cuttings, ambassador meetings, solicitation of new investors, new investor visits and helping with other Chamber programs. Nick will be recognized alongside other businesses and leaders for outstanding achievements for 2019 at the Chamber’s annual dinner on February 20.
About Nick Kenny
Nick Kenny, Executive Director of the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra, advocates for and fosters the importance of live symphonic music and its relevance in today’s media-centric culture. A musician of over 20 years, Nick recognizes the importance of music and its significance in our lives: from bedtime lullabies as an infant to graduation ceremonies, weddings, memorial services, and more. Though the arts are facing challenges worldwide, Nick has found success introducing new audiences to live symphonic performances via diverse and eclectic programming. Since 2017, Nick has increased concert revenue by over 25% through his efforts engaging the Greeley and Northern Colorado communities.
Nick has proven himself as an exceptional leader and advocate for his community, recognized as one of Northern Colorado’s 40 Under Forty (2018), Marquis’ Who’s Who in America (2018), Greeley Area Chamber Ambassador of the Month (March 2019), and Greeley Area Chamber Ambassador of the Year (2019). Along with his extensive development and networking experience, Nick is a passionate public speaker and presenter.
Nick volunteers in the National Park Service, is a member of the 501st Legion, and serves on various local and regional boards of directors. He also is an entertainer as a guest on radio shows and podcasts and hosts a variety of events such as themed trivia, Rock, Paper, Scissors tournaments, and adult spelling bees. In his free time, Nick is an ice hockey goaltender and enjoys hiking, cycling, and reading.
Nick, a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, holds a Master of Music in Music Education from the University of Northern Colorado and a bachelor’s degree in Trumpet Performance from Manchester University.
About the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra
Founded in 1911, the GPO is the oldest continually operated professional orchestra west of the Mississippi River. The organization provides the highest degree of music and cultural enrichment in Northern Colorado. Education initiatives continue to engage and inspire youth, promoting an interest in classical music. All musicians have auditioned and been contracted by the GPO. Over 70% of the GPO’s orchestra members hold a Master’s Degree or higher, and many have made successful careers performing for the GPO and other professional orchestras throughout the Front Range and beyond.
Concerts feature repertoire spanning hundreds of years, showcasing composers from across the globe. The GPO is invested in the future of classical music and its relevance in its community, presenting annual Fifth Grade concerts, outreach to schools, side-by-side coaching sessions, and a Junior Ambassador program.
