A Movie Experience: Sounds of Cinema

Greeley, CO - [April 30, 2024] In an exhilarating close to the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra (GPO) season, the GPO will transport audiences on a journey through cinematic history at “Sounds of Cinema.”

Whether you're a film buff, a classical music enthusiast, or simply seeking an evening of entertainment, "Sounds of Cinema" offers something for everyone. Experience pieces from legendary films such as Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Sixteen Candles, and more alongside solos by GPO Co-Concertmaster Yuri Santos and soprano Courtney Caston.  

The winning composition of the 2nd annual high school Magic Baton Melody Contest, written by Sarah Rasmussen and orchestrated by GPO Composer-in-Residence Dylan Fixmer, will open the concert. Sarah is a student at Greeley Central High School and has taken piano lessons with Grace Ann McCaulie at Flourish Music Academy for over 6 years. The winning melody, "Reeds in the River," is Sarah’s latest installment of her Winding River set, which she has been composing as part of Flourish’s annual Composition Festival.
