John St. Cyr is a double bassist and educator based in Denver, Colorado and is delighted to be joining the Greeley Philharmonic for its 26-27 season. John is an active freelance bassist and a member of the Boulder Philharmonic and Cheyenne Symphony Orchestras as a section member and is the Principal Bass of the Lumina Chamber Orchestra. John also regularly performs with other local ensembles including the Colorado Symphony, Opera Colorado, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and Fort Collins Symphony. He is passionate about historically Informed music performance and performs on baroque double bass, violone and viola da gamba with the Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado, Ensemble Gothic, Seicento Baroque and Parish House Baroque. John is currently a doctoral candidate in Double Bass Performance at CU Boulder and maintains an active private teaching studio. When not performing, John enjoys film photography, vegan cooking, studying history, and going on hikes with his wife and Labrador (Truffle).
